‘Matthijs transfer is a sneer at Eva Jinek’

Bridget Maasland thinks that Peter van der Vorst also wants to undermine Eva Jinek by bringing in Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. “That is of course also a bit of a quibble.”

It didn’t matter that Matthijs van Nieuwkerk had already joined RTL three years ago. Peter van der Vorst, the TV boss of RTL, had even had a photo taken of Matthijs with Beau van Erven Dorens and Eva Jinek next to him. Together they would form the super trio for the late evening of RTL 4. Last minute Matthijs dropped out.

Super trio

Matthijs confirmed a while ago that this is not a monkey story: “Luckily we still have the photo! If there is a photo of Beau and Eva and I in it, there is no point in denying it anymore. I couldn’t imagine better company. Eva and Beau are among the very best, and not unimportantly the nicest. And Peter is an inspiring chef.”

Yet he chose the musical show Matthijs Gaat Door at the NPO. The same NPO that dropped him hard after the DWDD scandal. And that is why Matthijs has now returned to Peter with hanging legs. At a perfect time, because in two days Eva Jinek will no longer be under contract with RTL.

‘Kift towards Eva’

RTL prominent Bridget Maasland is outspokenly opposed to the arrival of Matthijs. She believes that her boss Peter should have waited for the report on the work culture at the NPO. Because of that impatience he will probably not have been named Media Person of the Year, she now sneers in the latest one BLVD Podcast.

Bridget: “I think it is quite strange – and perhaps that is why he did not become Media Person of the Year – that… Well, I completely understand that the decision was made to bring Matthijs to RTL and that is of course also a bit of a kicks towards Eva. That Eva left and that Matthijs took her place, so I understand all that.”

‘Quite painful’

But what Bridget doesn’t understand? “I found it quite painful that they did not wait for the investigation. Especially because RTL also has the entire Voice history. That is still quite foggy and unclear.”

She continues: “As Peter, I really thought: let me wait a month until the investigation is known, even though we have had everything in place for a long time and we have known for a long time that Matthijs is coming, but just a moment. for the victims and the outside world…”

To lie

According to Peter, he deliberately announced it early, because he did not want to lie about it. What nonsense, says Bridget. As if there are no other lies at RTL, she laughs.

“Yes, I find that very strange. That is always only when it suits them, because of course there is a lot of lying in this world and now at once: ‘We don’t want to lie about it’.”
