In general, the 58-year-old also calls up to trust the individual class of players again. “We have to find middle roads for the creativity and individuality of our players and from them form a team. We give the idea about the quality of the individual player. That makes no sense,” he said. Good coaches have always taken care of which players they had available and tried to form the best possible team.

Sammer analyzes defects in the German defensive: “We also have to improve the duels again. Maybe we are now too good for the dirty work. Endurance training is also dirty work. Maybe we have become too comfortable.” He also sees the reason for this among those responsible for German football. According to Sammer, people are in positions there, “who can talk about it nicely, but have no idea about it.” They are more organizers than footballers.

But his all -round goes even further: “We have to talk about the trainer training. We have to talk about the sports directors.” Sports directors should have been a trainer at least. “The sports directors rate a trainer. But what do you want to evaluate? Victory or defeat?” Asked Sammer.

The German national team will meet Luxembourg in the World Cup qualification next Friday and Monday on Northern Ireland. At the start of the qualification, the DFB team had had to take a 0-2 defeat against Slovakia and is already under pressure.
