Frendit star Matthew Perry’s doctor, Salvador Plasencia, was sentenced to two years and six months.
He is the first of five people charged in Perry’s death to be sentenced.
Perry was found drowned in his home’s hot tub after taking ketamine in October 2023. The prosecutor’s by Plasencia took advantage of Perry’s drug addiction by selling him ketamine at a high price in the weeks before Perry’s death.
Although Plasencia did not sell the dose of ketamine that caused Perry’s death, the judge said he was complicit in Perry’s death.
– You took advantage of Perry’s addiction for your own benefit, judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett stated.

“One of the most guilty”
According to Perry’s parents, Plasencia is “one of the most to blame” for Perry’s death, Sky News tells.
In a letter to the court, Perry’s family called doctors who sold the man ketamine as “greedy jackals”.
Court documents show that in a text message sent to another doctor, Plasencia called Perry an “idiot” to whom drugs could be sold at a high price.
– How long did you plan to sell Matthew countless doses before he died? Did you care? Did you think? the family asks Plasencia in the letter.
“I Betrayed Perry”
Plasencia apologized to the actor’s family before his sentence, says Variety.
– I betrayed Perry. I betrayed his family. I should have protected him, Plasencia said.
Perry had used ketamine legally to treat depression, says NBC News. When Perry’s own doctors refused to increase the dose, Perry turned to Plasencia.
