Chantal Janzen may have to give up a significant salary now that Peter van der Vorst is leaving as program director of RTL 4. “She may be moving to a less lucrative contract.”
It is a big blow for some RTL 4 stars now that Peter van der Vorst is leaving as channel boss. He has his favorites and of course they don’t feel like changing at all. For example, Carlo Boszhard indicated in 2021 that he fervently hoped that a merger with Talpa – which was still being discussed at the time – would not mean Peter’s departure.

Now that Peter has been promoted by the new RTL owner DPG Media, it is a tough pill to swallow for many stars. “It obviously also has a lot of consequences for presenters, because yes, such a program director has his own favorites. At RTL, for example, this is now Ruben Nicolai and Chantal Janzen,” says Tina Nijkamp, once channel manager of SBS 6.
She continues in the podcast Tina’s TV Update: “What will happen with that? Will they still make their money or will the new program director say: ‘Well, you are very expensive. I just want some new fresh faces or I don’t want any permanent faces at all, because that is outdated.’ That is also possible.”

Who is screwed anyway? Tina: “I think that Marieke Elsinga and Leonie ter Braak in particular should be concerned, especially if Leonie does not succeed at RTL Tonight. Then not much has actually succeeded.”
She continues: “The same with Marieke Elsinga. At The Jump you can also wonder whether that suits her. They will watch with excitement to see who will be the new program director.”

There are also stars without worries, says Tina. “Gerard Joling and Ruben Nicolai obviously don’t have to worry, Buddy and Jamai, yes, yes… Buddy is a freelancer there. Will he be employed permanently or will he no longer be employed at all? We don’t know.”
She concludes: “Chantal Janzen has already done much less television, so I don’t think she has to worry much, but may end up with a less lucrative contract because she no longer does as much.”
