Ex-DFB player Mats Hummels almost ended up with eventual Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain last year. The 2014 world champion revealed this as an expert on “Prime Video” on the sidelines of the premier class game between PSG and FC Bayern. “There was interest from both sides,” said Hummels.
In the end, a move for Hummels, who was then out of contract, fell through. For this to happen, a personality in the Paris squad would have had to change, which didn’t happen, Hummels revealed. Finally, the veteran went to Italy to AS Roma, where he ended his career at the end of last season. The 36-year-old was on the pitch 20 times (one goal) for the Giallorossi.
Hummels had obviously made an impression at PSG. In the 2023/24 Champions League semi-final, he scored the 1-0 winning goal in the second leg in Paris, which meant that BVB reached the final against Real Madrid. In the summer of 2024, PSG defense center Milan Škriniar (30) was considered a candidate for departure, but ultimately stayed and only moved to Fenerbahce in the winter.
