Mathias D. (45) after ‘wellness murder’ on the way to assizes for manslaughter of wife Stephanie (43): “There was jealousy within their open relationship”

“He still can’t get over the fact that he killed his own wife, whom he loved so much.” Almost two years to the day after Mathias D. killed his wife and mother of their three children Stephanie Demeyere (43) in their home in Waregem, West Flanders, the investigation has been completed. The council chamber in Kortrijk today referred the file to the Indictment Chamber (KI) in Ghent, the penultimate step towards assizes. The drama took place while their three sons, aged 7, 9 and 11, were at home.
