“I start around 7 a.m. and don’t finish until the end of the afternoon,” says the weatherman from his office, with a view over the city of Purmerend. The room, full of weather maps, climate books and world maps, functions as his workplace almost every day. From there, the experienced weatherman keeps North Hollanders informed about the weather via the radio and other NH channels.
Flakes the size of white tissues
The past few days have been extra special for Visser, because so much snow has not fallen since February 2021. “This is actually quite special,” says the weatherman. “There is now about 7 to 8 centimeters of snow, which we haven’t had in years.”
He also enjoys the winter weather on a personal level. “Flakes the size of white tissues come falling down. That’s of course beautiful. I try to enjoy it while I can.”
