Martin Scorsese surprises with his new film: “I want to emphasize the core teachings of Jesus”

The upcoming film will be significantly different from previous feature films.

Oscar-winning film director and producer Martin Scorsese tells the Los Angeles Times in the interview about his upcoming film.

The 81-year-old director says that he remembers a lot of his friends who have already died.

The new movie is based on Shusaku Endo’s book A Life of Jesus (Life of Jesus)

– I’m trying to find a new way to make the story more accessible and remove the negative burden associated with organized religion, Scorsese told the magazine.

The director sees that the best way is to make the film short and sweet.

– I want to emphasize the core teachings of Jesus in a way that does not limit conversion, says Scorsese.

The book on which the film is based describes the course of Jesus’ story. However, Scorsese reveals that the upcoming film will be set in the present day.

Scorsese known for his feature films

The director’s next direction, known for his long films, differs from the previous ones. The duration of the film is estimated in advance to be 80 minutes.

The film will be the shortest of Scorsese’s films to date. In second place is his first film from 1967, Who’s That Knocking at My Doorwas 90 minutes long.
