Martijn Krabbé without a show all fall: ‘For the first time since 2010’

It continues to surprise viewing figures connoisseur Tina Nijkamp: the sudden absence of RTL 4 star Martijn Krabbé. He hasn’t had his own show all fall. And that’s the first time since 2010.

While fellow broadcaster Ruben Nicolai (47) is currently on the channel twice a week, we rarely see the slightly older Martijn Krabbé (54) on RTL 4 at the moment. He was recently a guest in the interview program of Beau van Erven Dorens, in which he mused about a life after his TV career, but that was about it.

Martin absent

Viewing figure expert Tina Nijkamp, the former channel boss of SBS 6, is surprised about Martijn’s absence. “The reruns of Buying Without Watching are the only thing that Martijn Krabbé can be seen with this fall. For the first time since 2010, this top presenter has been invisible on RTL 4 for the entire TV season.”

In that year The Voice of Holland started and Martijn has presented it continuously in all those years. Now that the show has been taken off the tube, the presenter has lost an important presentation job.

Scoring reps

The fact that Martijn is well liked by TV viewers is evident from the fact that even his reruns score high ratings. A rebroadcast of Buying Without Watching attracted 461 thousand viewers (9 percent) to the relatively small RTL 5 yesterday, good enough for a spot in the top 20 viewing figure.

Tina notices that home television has been scoring well lately anyway. “vtwonen is number ten in the list with 669,000 viewers and is the best-scoring program of the day for SBS 6 after De Oranjewinter. De Grote Verbouwing also scores with 521,000 viewers in the early evening,” she writes.

Scrooge and Beau

The big winners in prime time were Scrooge Live with 1.8 million viewers (33 percent) on NPO 1 and Isola Di Beau with 1.1 million viewers (20 percent) on RTL 4, followed by One against 50 with 1 million viewers ( 21 percent) on RTL 4.

Tina: “Wow! What a super score for Scrooge Live. Just short of a viewing figure record: this third edition had 80,000 fewer viewers than last year. But Scrooge Live, like The Passion, also seems to have really become an annual event now. And also a new Christmas tradition. Next year will certainly be a new edition with these figures.”
