Mart Hoogkamer thinks it’s horrible what his father does, he says in his first reaction on camera. “They should all just leave my family alone. It just makes me angry.”
Mart Hoogkamer’s father and his partner Natasja were arrested in Leiden last month after a major police operation including a helicopter. According to witnesses, the couple had gone to seek redress from a woman from whom they were supposed to receive money, but things got completely out of hand. They allegedly threatened with a weapon.
‘It’s terrible’
Yesterday Mart was in front of the camera for the first time since that incident. “It’s my father and I think it’s terrible what he did,” he says Show news. “I don’t think it’s possible at all. What I was told and the images and everything surrounding it with children and I don’t know what else… I really have no contact with him anymore.”
He continues: “I know, Fred, who you also know, my driver, I had him five months ago… Four months! I have to say it right, because then I can immediately tighten things up! Four months ago I was told that my father was dying. Then I had all the phone calls, the police, everything and it’s all on my desk, right?”
Dying
It all sounds a bit incoherent. Mart continues: “I tried to find out everything: what was going on? Then I heard that he was dying and then I said to Fred, to my driver: ‘I want you to hear something for me.’ I also don’t want to have to break up with an argument.”
“Look, imagine that my father is dying and then I will never be able to talk to him again. So I wanted to know how or what, but I have never been to him. First of all, it is too late for that, because he should have come to my child first and that didn’t happen.”
‘Leave it alone!’
His father does not look after his child, according to Mart. “Then I think… Then it has to be over with ehh… It just has to be over now. I just don’t want to be confronted with this anymore. They should all just leave my family alone. It almost makes me angry, yes.”
Tooske Ragas in the studio: “I feel so sorry for that boy.”
Reporter Janine Schuinder: “It really affects him enormously. That is really not normal. He had difficulty getting his words out and he is very emotional about it.”
