Omar Marmoush
Bundesliga top scorer changes: The farewell was so emotional

The Eintracht Frankfurt chapter is over for Omar Marmoush. The striker said an emotional farewell – and received a lot of praise.
There has been speculation for a long time, but now the departure is perfect: striker Omar Marmoush is leaving Eintracht Frankfurt and moving to Manchester City. All that’s missing is official confirmation. Marmoush no longer played in the convincing 2-0 win against Borussia Dortmund on Friday evening – the 25-year-old Egyptian was still the big topic of Friday evening.
Because: Marmoush stood on the lawn of the Waldstadion and was celebrated by the Frankfurt fans. The professional is drawn to the Premier League, and the championship team led by coach Pep Guardiola is apparently prepared to pay a transfer fee of up to 80 million euros. Accordingly, the attacker with 15 goals this season received the big farewell in civilian clothes, which was given to him not only by the fans but also by all of his teammates behind him.
Goalscorer Rasmus Hojlund said after the moving scenes in front of the Frankfurter Curve: “Omar should get the best farewell ever. He’s a great guy and fully deserves it.” After Sébastien Haller, Luka Jović and Randal Kolo Muani, Marmoush is the fourth striker to leave the club from Hesse in the recent past for a huge transfer fee.
Unlike Kolo Muani, who went on strike in the summer of 2023 before moving to Paris Saint-Germain, Eintracht and Marmoush part ways with positive feelings. “It was an amazing moment, even in the dressing room. It’s a great spirit. Everyone wishes him that from the bottom of their hearts, everyone understands. We wish him all the best,” said coach Dino Toppmöller. The Hessians only brought Marmoush on a free transfer from VfL Wolfsburg a year and a half ago.
