Benzema soon the most valuable
With the conclusion of the Saudi Pro League season, all market values of the 16 top division teams have been updated. Up one million, Al-Nassr FC attacking star Talisca first reclaimed the top spot in the league’s Most Valuable Players rankings – where he now ranks alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, who is down.
The 29-year-old was once again a key player in the title contenders, narrowly missing out on the title of top scorer with 20 goals in 23 games. At the same time, record signing Ronaldo was devalued by 5 million to 15 million euros after moving from England and due to age. The 38-year-old remains the most valuable over-36 footballer in the world.
Talisca and “CR7” will be replaced in a few weeks at the latest by Al-Ittihad new signing Karim Benzema, who will then be the most valuable player in the league when the contract begins on July 1st.
In the course of the update, the only 23-year-old Saudi Arabian international Firas Al-Buraikan will receive the national market value crown. The centre-forward once again proved his goal threat and scored 17 goals in 30 games for his club Al-Fateh to their best result in the past six years. The ex-Al-Nassr striker has increased his value to €3 million with his sixth increase in market value in a row.
He is followed in the national ranking by full-back Saud Abdulhamid, who was a ray of hope in Al-Hilal’s season and made a positive impression at both the Club World Cup (including against Real Madrid) and Saudi Arabia’s successful World Cup. It increases its value to 2.8 million euros with an upward trend.
Due to the high average age of the top players, the value of a team in the Pro League often falls, regardless of whether a good season has been completed: Al-Hilal receives a minus of around 2 million euros and for Al-Nassr it is even about more than 9 million euros down. Despite Al-Ittihad’s first championship title in over ten years (for the news), many locals in particular have not been able to live up to expectations, while the mostly foreign top performers are at their market value zenith. Top scorer Abderrazak Hamdallah maintains his €3m worth at 32. The total market value of the team falls slightly (-225,000 euros).
The positive development of the league – club teams have been doing well internationally for years and the national team has been getting better results internationally – is also reflected in the market value development of the “Green Falcons”. With a total market value of around 24 million euros, the national team of Saudi Arabia is now slowly approaching the top spots of the most valuable senior national teams in Asia and moves up to sixth place.
