Mario Basler shows understanding for Tuchel’s freak outs

After FC Bayern’s 4-0 win at BVB, Thomas Tuchel launched a round-the-clock attack on his critics and the media. The head coach of the German record champions faced strong headwinds for this. Former national player Mario Basler, however, could understand the reaction.

After the Bundesliga classic, Tuchel verbally lashed out in front of the camera against “Sky” experts Lothar Matthäus and Dietmar Hamann, who had sharply criticized Bayern after their embarrassing cup exit in Saarbrücken.

His controversial appearance was met with criticism from all sides. Stefan Effenberg described the freak out in the “Sport1” one-two as a “mistake”, Andreas Möller criticized the 50-year-old’s lack of sovereignty.

FC Bayern: Basler supports Tuchel

Mario Basler, on the other hand, defends Tuchel. “I really like Lothar Matthäus, I also like Didi Hamann. But I also think that sometimes you have to admit that a coach has such a reaction. Now to say that he was thin-skinned and didn’t sell well, I can see that “Not like that,” the ex-professional made clear in his podcast “Basler ballert”.

“I think a coach can also defend himself when he’s been criticized over and over again for weeks. Didi has criticized him for a very long time and very often, and sometimes criticized him very harshly. But I thought that, “If the game ends like this, Tuchel would show some kind of reaction against Lothar and Didi,” added the 54-year-old.

Basler is of the opinion that “experts are not always allowed to do everything.” Tuchel “doesn’t have to put up with everything,” after all, he has “the best arguments” after a 4-0 win. “I think Thomas Tuchel’s reaction is totally human and I totally understood it,” said the former midfielder.
