‘Marieke Elsinga’s radio career is over now that she is pregnant again’

Marieke Elsinga is shooting herself in the foot professionally by becoming pregnant for the second time in a short time, says Patrick Kicken. “She’s putting her career on hold.”

More than a year after giving birth to her son, Marieke Elsinga announced this week that she is expecting her second child. She is due in August and that means that the presenter will once again not be heard in the Qmusic morning show for a longer period of time. As a result, Mattie Valk will soon have to pull the cart on his own again.

Radio career goodbye

Patrick Kicken, the most famous radio columnist in our country, states in his Speaking-piece column that this is disastrous for Marieke’s radio career. “She becomes a mother for the second time in a short time and thus puts her media and radio career on hold.”

Why? “That cannot be combined, a morning show on a major national channel and two young shoots, including the associated sleepless nights, pumping and other energy-consuming hassle.”

Cannot be combined

Marieke already suffers from fatigue anyway; that is why at one point she went back to a four-day working week. “This cannot be combined, especially if you also want to continue doing some things on television. Buddy Mattie is already feeling the mood and is not going to try out new sidekicks for nothing, in the form of Miljuschka Witzenhausen.”

The only way out would be an afternoon show, he decides. “Marieke in the afternoon with Domien? Could be. But I’d rather put my bets on 538. It would be the icing on the cake for Dave Minneboo: pulling Elsinga away from his previous club and adding him to Frank Dane’s team.”
