– We are going to the cottage from here. In the evening we go to the sauna and swim in the sea, because the winter swimming season has now officially started. We are really waiting for the ice to come to the sea and we will be able to swim properly in the opening, Guzenina told Iltalehte.

Guzenina has also introduced her husband to Finnish culture through, for example, mushroom picking.

– Once, at the end of one trip, we came to Helsinki on the ferry from Tallinn and it was almost eleven at night. From there, we went straight to the mushroom forest, because the mushroom season had just started and he knows how much I like picking mushrooms, Guzenina says with a smile.

– He said that we could use cell phone lights, and the chanterelles would stand out really well. There were crazy squeals of joy when the catch was found there, the politician continues.

Guzenina visited her husband’s father in Greece last summer. Guzenina did farm work there. According to Guzenina, the couple is united by blowing on coal.

– In many respects, we are very similar to the Greeks, for whom family is important. We want to advance in life through work and we work hard for our family. In addition, we are united by curiosity and we like to travel, Guzenina enumerates.

Age difference

The couple has an age difference of 17 years. Guzenina hasn’t noticed that anyone pays any attention to their big age difference – not even in the circle of friends or close ones.

– I think that the age of a person’s soul is much more decisive than the age that appears as numbers on a passport, he states.

At the same time, Guzenina points out that men are never asked such things.

– If the man is significantly older and the woman is younger, then he is not asked, “what do you mean by this” or “how can this be like this”. We live in a world where finding a connection with people and common values is more important than numbers, Guzenina begins.

– Find a person by your side with whom it is easy to share everyday life and where we support each other and see each other as people first and foremost, he adds.
