Military Marco Kroon from Schijndel took a demonstrator during the national celebration of the liberation in Wageningen. When several people wanted to disrupt the celebration on the 5 May Square, the soldier immediately intervened.
Kroon was in the front of the audience during the speech of the Minister of Defense Ruben Brekelmans from Oisterwijk. When a demonstrator ran forward and called ‘Free Palestine’, the soldier ran from Den Bosch from the stands in the first direction the demonstrator.
He grabbed him and worked him to the ground. Safety people then took care of the demonstrator and took him off.

In total, five people were arrested during the promotion. Brekelmans finished his speech, but paused it several times.
Major Marco Kroon was present as a knight in the Military William Order during the celebration of the liberation in Wageningen. He was beaten in 2009 by Queen Beatrix. He received this highest award for his heroic performance during a peace mission in Afghanistan.
