Marco Borsato certainly appears to be the victim of an act of revenge by Nathalie T., the former chairman of his fan club. At least, that is the analysis of TV critic Victor Vlam. “Dismiss!”
The Marco Borsato trial started last week with a surprising twist, because the mother of his alleged victim A. does not seem to be completely at one hundred percent. This Nathalie T. created a very sexual environment for her daughter, as is evident from the stories of the singer and several witnesses.
‘Time for acquittal!’
TV critic Victor Vlam was initially very neutral in the Marco case, but that changed after the hearing days. “Now I am of the opinion that Marco Borsato has been done a great injustice. I believe that he should be acquitted. I believe that this should never have been brought to the hearing and I believe that this should have been dismissed.”
He continues in the podcast Victor Indicates TV: “The consequences for Marco Borsato are really gigantic, aren’t they? His life has been on hold for at least four years. He can no longer perform, his reputation is completely destroyed. RTL Z has calculated that this has cost him nine million euros in all kinds of lost income and legal fees.”
Victim of whom?
Victor points out that it has become diffuse as to who A. really is the victim. “Actually, the question here is: is she the victim of Marco Borsato who committed fornication with her or is she the victim of her own mother who uses her to take revenge on Marco Borsato?”
Her mother Nathalie has led Marco’s fan club for years and years. “That determined her identity. She worked full-time for him as an assistant. You could say that her entire social and work life took place in the aura of Marco Borsato and then you were in danger of being kicked out and that is what she possibly wanted to take revenge for.”
Dismissal interview
Marco wanted Nathalie out because she was no longer functioning properly. “During the dismissal interview, she came up with allegations of indecent exposure. Isn’t it bizarre that you come up with those allegations at that moment?” says Victor.
He continues: “It already happened a number of years ago, so not a recent development, and only when you are fired as fan club chairman do you start doing it. (…) That alone makes the scenario at least possible that she does it to take revenge on him.”
Crazy morals
Nathalie led a “totally sexualized family,” according to Victor. “Marco went along with the crazy morals of the family. That is unacceptable, you should not send a message to an underage girl with the advice to do some fingering. Bad idea to do that, it is absolutely not allowed, but it is no longer an indication of fornication.”
“Her mother went many times further. She even sent an audio file of her own daughter to Marco while she was having sex with her boyfriend. She went much further in doing things like that. In the context of the mores of the family, Marco did not behave excessively.”
No casualties
Victor points out that there are no other victims either. “I think that is relevant in this context, because when there is one victim, it is much easier for other victims to come forward, because we would probably all immediately believe that new victim.”
“The most important barrier to not reporting yourself as a victim is that you are not believed, but that barrier is being removed. So I think it is likely that there are no other victims.”
Credible
Usually it does not stop at one victim, according to Victor. “That speaks in favor of Marco Borsato.”
He simply does not believe the complainant. “I find it an extremely dubious story and I find the way Marco presented himself in the media credible. Maybe he is a very good actor, but he came across as sincere to me.”
