Marcelino Garcia Toral has been appointed as the coach of the French 1st Football League (Ligue 1) team, Olympic Marseille.
Olympic Marseille Club announced that it has signed a contract with 57-year-old Spanish coach Marcelino for the coaching position vacated by Igor Tudor.
Marcelino has served in Sporting Gijon, Recreativo Huelva, Racing Santander, Real Zaragoza, Sevilla, Villarreal, Valencia and most recently Athletic Bilbao in his career.
The experienced coach won the Spanish King’s Cup with Valencia in the 2018-2019 season and the Spanish Super Cup with Athletic Bilbao in the 2020-2021 season.
Olympic Marseille, which also includes Cengiz Ünder and Bartuğ Elmaz in its squad, took the 3rd place in Ligue 1 with 73 points last season. Tudor, Marseille’s Croatian coach, resigned at the end of the season.
