Marcel van Roosmalen is far from done with his favorite direct object Angela de Jong. This time he bashs her podcast. “When you hear her shrill voice you are immediately awake.”
Marcel van Roosmalen’s persistent attacks on the opinion diva of the AD are eye-catching. Do the apparitions of Angela de Jong bother him so much that he has to vent it every other day? Or is her name just a good one clickbait? This time he slaughters the podcast she makes with Manuel Venderbos and two AD colleagues.
Sharp Angela
Marcel has listened to the AD Media podcast for a while and is not impressed, he says in his own podcast Another Day. “I put that thing on and I’m going to listen to the AD Media podcast. Then you hear that shrill voice of Angela de Jong, then you are immediately awake. And that Manuel Venderbos, you also hear him.”
Manuel is also known to the general public as a presenter of Shownieuws. “What an anecdote little chap, say. For half an hour it was about the big experience in his life: at Shownieuws, Patty Brard’s phone rang and they thought it had been an air raid alarm or something like that.
Bad podcast
Manuel was the presenter on duty in that particular broadcast. Marcel: “He had made all kinds of jokes about it, like: ‘Is there nobody on the floor?’ And then laughed about it again. I thought: Jesus, what a lousy podcast actually. That’s what I thought to myself. How flashy our podcast is put together.”
Colleague Gijs Groenteman: “There are podcasts of so many different levels, aren’t there? You have very good podcasts and you also have really bad podcasts.”
‘Pity for Manuel’
This is just a sad podcast, says Marcel. “It just kept meandering. It is also a bit sad for Manuel Venderbos, because this is his experience of the week. He had really made some very sharp jokes in Shownieuws and they showed them again. The whole story is then pulled out one more time.”
He continues: “Angela de Jong rightly concludes: ‘That is television.’ And then she started a – I think she does every time – victory talk, talking into the air from Even Tot Here. She likes that. She says: ‘That has never been shown on Dutch television.’”
‘Jesus say!’
Marcel doesn’t like listening to it. “Then you’ve been walking with that podcast for half an hour and then you think: Jesus, when will the content come? Well, we also came up for a while. She went to watch our talk show with great interest and of course had zero expectations of us. She hinted at that. It will also really disappoint her.”
Gijs: “Well, it won’t disappoint her…”
Marcel: “No, it will come true what she thinks. She shakes her head in front of the TV, like: what is SBS doing?”
