After months of injury, Marc-André Ter Stegen against Valladolid was back in Barcelonas. However, he is not in demand in the coming games.

Marc-André Ter Stegen reported back after more than seven months-and is still left out. In the 2-1 victory of FC Barcelona against the bottom of Real Valladolid, the German national goalkeeper was back on the pitch for the first time. But Barça coach Hansi Flick is not planning with him for the next big tasks.

According to Flick, Wojciech Szczęsny will be in the goal both in the Champions League semi-final at Inter Milan on Tuesday and in the Clásico against Real Madrid in the league on Sunday. “This is our plan,” said the trainer after the game.

Ter Stegen had explained before his comeback that he was “fit like never before”. He showed a solid performance against Valladolid. Flick praised his keeper: he was very happy about his return and emphasized that Ter Stegen was on the right track.

A return to the goal could now take place at national team level for the 33-year-old. For the final tournament of the Nations League on June 4th and 8th, national coach Julian Nagelsmann can plan again with his number one.

Ter Stegen had seriously injured his right knee last September. During FC Barcelona’s league game at FC Villarreal, the patella tendon was torn. He then had to pause for over seven months.
