With the recent success, Manuel Neuer has entered an exclusive list. Only three players in front of him reached the “premier class” brand.
In the 3-1 home win of FC Bayern against Chelsea FC, Manuel Neuer celebrated his 100th success in the Champions League. The 39-year-old from FC Bayern is now one of a small group of players whom this feat succeeded. In front of him only Cristiano Ronaldo (115 victories), Thomas Müller (110) and Iker Casillas (101).
However, the personal record was not a top priority for the former national keeper. “It is of course a nice number,” said Neuer after the game at DAZN: “It is much more important to have won these victories with the team. You are happy about it together.”
Vincent Kompany also had praise for the long -time regular goalkeeper. The Bayern coach paid tribute to the performance of Neuers and emphasized his role model function: “He remains a very good example for us,” said the Belgian. “He is very humble, he is such a great role model for many boys.” The high number of victories is “madness”, added Kompany.
In another statistics, the 2014 world champion was already taking first place: At 39 years and 174 days, new record national player Lothar Matthäus was the oldest player with a commitment to Bayern in the Champions League.
