The Spanish fashion group Mango has invested as a “first big brand” in The Post Fiber. The start-up manages and recycles textile waste that occurs after consumption. These are used to produce new fibers for the production of clothing.

The financing was carried out via Mango Startup Studio, the brand’s start-up accelerator. It should contribute to mangoes comprehensive sustainability strategy. In it, the company has undertaken to use 100 percent fibers with “lower environmental impacts” by 2030.

In addition to the investment, Berta Moral, director of Mango Kids and Mango Teen, will join the board of The Post Fiber. Other conditions of the investment have not been announced.

In a statement, Moral said that Mango, through the partnership with the company, “not only increases our commitment to the integration of a higher percentage of recycled fibers in our collections”, but also “support the growth of these emerging companies”, “which change the industry”.

At the same time as the announcement, Mango launched a limited collection for his youth line mango teen, which uses the recycled fibers from The Post Fiber.

The capsule collection consists of ten products “most of which consist of 80 percent recycled material”, as stated in a press release. Of these, 15 percent of The Post Fiber. The remaining recycled material comes from production waste. The dye used is produced with pigment coloring technology, which supposedly “reduces water and energy consumption”.

The Post Fiber is a Spanish recycling company that is made up of four textile companies: Hallotex, Textil Santanderina, Mode-Re and Margasa. According to the company, it fulfills the “strictest sustainability criteria” in the recycling of old clothes and their conversion into fibers. These are then processed by industrial partners for yarns, fabrics and clothing.
