Mango appoints former McKinsey manager Achim Berg as consultant

The Spanish clothing supplier Mango has secured additional expertise. On Wednesday, the company announced the appointment of Achim Berg as an external consultant. In his future role, the renowned industry expert will support CEO Toni Ruiz and the management team of Mango from May 1st, according to a statement.

Mango boss Ruiz has great hope for the new addition. “The fact that we can win Achim for our external team of consultants is an important step for Mango,” he explained in a statement. “His unparalleled experience and innovative vision for the fashion industry will be instrumental in refining our growth and internationalization strategy and advancing our sustainability agenda.”

According to Mango, Berg spent a total of 24 years at the management consultancy McKinsey & Company, including 14 years as a partner and senior partner. In 2010, he was one of the founders of the “Apparel, Fashion and Luxury” (AF&L) division and initially took over the management of the EMEA team. He was appointed the division’s first global head in 2015 and held the post until his departure in September last year.

Berg also initiated McKinsey’s partnership with the international specialist publication “The Business of Fashion” (BoF) and was, among other things, co-responsible for the joint study series “State of Fashion” for seven years.
