Man who has to go to jail jumps into the canal to escape the police

A 40-year-old man jumped into the water of the Seeligsingel in Breda on Friday morning. That happened when officers wanted to arrest him. He still has to go to jail for a few months, there is still an open sentence for which he was wanted. He was also wanted for vandalism.

The police received a report around seven o’clock that a man, who was under the influence, was lying in a porch of the Menno van Coehoornstraat. When police officers went to look, it turned out to be the wanted Bredanaar. Another hundred and twenty days in prison are behind his name.

Fireboat
But the man apparently had no appetite for that. He suddenly took off and jumped into the canal in an attempt to escape the officers. The fire brigade was called in to fish the fleeing man out of the water with a boat. But once she got water, the man decided to choose eggs for his money and still climb out of the water.

He was transferred to a cell complex in Breda and is still being held.
