Man shot at the car of murderer DJ Siki Martina: 6 years in prison demanded

The Public Prosecution Service demanded six years in prison on Friday against Marvin M. from Steenbergen, the 35-year-old cousin of DJ and music producer Siki Martina, who was shot dead last July.

M. stated that he shot at the car of two men, Christopher L. (32), and Ruchelo C. (33), who targeted him and Siki with their firearms. Siki Martina was shot dead on July 10 last year on a parking deck at Coolhaven metro station in Rotterdam-West in the presence of Marvin, after a weapons sale went wrong. Forensic research has shown that Siki was shot from a distance of between ten and fifty centimeters.

‘Deliberately took front weapon’
Marvin stated in the Rotterdam court that Siki saved his life at the cost of his own. “I wouldn’t be here without him,” Marvin said. “I quickly realized that Siki was in bad shape. I fled, but I had no plan. I had nowhere to go. I later went back to Coolhaven to see how Siki was doing.”

According to M.’s lawyer, his client acted in self-defense. The defense counsel therefore asked for an acquittal for the attempted manslaughter charge. The Public Prosecution Service does not agree with the defense because both parties deliberately brought a firearm to the meeting.

Stranglehold
At the end of October, M. attacked Christopher L. in the court in Rotterdam. The Steenbergen resident stormed forward when L. and Ruchelo C. were brought into the room and took L. in a stranglehold. The public prosecutor’s office intervened and managed to restore peace.

The case was suspended for some time, but later continued without an audience and without suspects. The press was allowed to stay in the room, as were Siki Martina’s mother and girlfriend.

Bouchi
At the end of October, Christopher L. and Ruchalo C. were sentenced to sixteen and twelve years in prison for the shooting death of Siki Martina. It is not clear which of them fired the fatal shot, the suspects gave conflicting statements about this. The Public Prosecution Service suspects that three firearms were fired back and forth. A total of thirty bullet cartridges were recovered. The highest sentence was demanded against L., because he is also suspected of attempted manslaughter on M.

Siki Martina was a friend of the Tilburg rapper Boechi. He was shot dead in Curaçao last December.
