A man was trapped in the mast of a boat in Den Helder for hours this afternoon. This person was eventually freed by the fire brigade and was not injured.
Around 3.30 p.m. this afternoon, the fire service received a report from a person near the Zuiderzeestraat. It later turned out that a person was ‘stuck’ on the mast of a sailing boat. He couldn’t get himself loose or down.
According to bystanders, the man has been dangling at a height since 2 p.m. The fire service was able to free the man from the mast with the help of a cherry picker. He was then checked by ambulance personnel, but did not have to be taken to the hospital.
