A man died on Saturday evening when he crossed the A16 motorway near Zevenbergschen Hoek. He was hit by a car. The accident happened around a quarter past ten. Emergency services quickly arrived, but help did not help anymore. The man died of his injuries on the spot.
Several motorists saw the accident happen. They were heard by agents on the spot. Victim Support has been engaged for the witnesses present.
The police do not yet know who the man is. His identity is being investigated. The police are also investigating why the man crossed the highway. The A16 was temporarily closed for investigation after the accident.
