The 36-year-old man who was arrested last week after the shooting at a chip shop on Thomas van Aquinostraat in Tilburg has been released. It turned out he wasn’t a suspect after all. The gunman who shot a 52-year-old Dongener in the leg is still on the run.
The victim was eating on the terrace with his son last Thursday around four o’clock in the afternoon when he was shot in the leg. Emergency services came en masse to the terrace. Paramedics treated the man at the scene, after which he was taken to hospital.
After the shooting, the area was cordoned off for investigation. There were bullet casings on the street and forensic investigators were investigating the evidence. The shooter fled after the incident.
No suspect
The investigation led to a 36-year-old man from Tilburg later that afternoon. He was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the shooting. However, it now appears that he is not a suspect in the case. The man has been released.
The shooter is still on the run. The police are investigating the shooting. It is not clear how the 52-year-old victim is doing.
