Makkabi Berlin continues to play under security precautions

Football league team Makkabi Berlin is continuing its training and game operations after the recent game cancellations as a result of the attacks on Israel.

As the Jewish association announced on Thursday, increased security measures had also been decided in coordination with the Berlin Senate. After the attacks in Israel last weekend, the club’s team games scheduled for October 8th were postponed.

“We as a multicultural team, which also includes Muslims and Jews, definitely want to keep playing and not let ourselves be defeated. This is the only way we can set an example for tolerance and peaceful coexistence,” said a statement from the team council of the 1st men’s team. Next Sunday Makkabi will compete in the Berlin State Cup against FSV Berolina Stralau.

The club recently caused a stir when it was the first Jewish club to qualify for the first main round of the DFB Cup. Makkabi was eliminated there in mid-August against Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg.
