The police carried out a large-scale operation to search a house on Stratingplantsoen in Velsen-Noord on Saturday evening.

The reason was a conflict in the ex-relationship atmosphere in which one of the people involved indicated that he was carrying a firearm. The house was searched with the help of dogs and officers in bulletproof vests, but the suspect with the alleged firearm was not found.

A second suspect, accused of smashing a window, was arrested at the scene and is in custody. According to a police spokesperson, the search for the firearms-threatening suspect is still ongoing. “It is certain that this person is no longer in the home. The situation there is now safe,” the spokesperson said.

The police are still looking for the man.
