“Game Of Thrones” actress Maisie Williams admits her big wish was to kill off Queen Cersei Lannister’s character as Arya Stark.
Even if Arya had died herself, she should have killed Cersei
This is according to the upcoming book “Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon: Game of Thrones and the Official Untold Story of the Epic Series” by James Hibberd. In it, the author lets many people involved in the HBO series have their say and also quotes the actress, among others. She said she had hoped that Arya would drag the queen to her death in the final season. Although that would have meant that her own character would also have had to die in the process.
Williams thought Arya wanted to kill Cersei in the guise of Jamie
She apparently assumed “that was what motivated Arya.” She was even convinced until the end that Jamie would remove his face in the death scene and Arya would emerge – Arya mastered the magical art of hiding behind real-looking masks. “And then they would both have died,” said the actress. “I wanted her to kill Cersei.”
Cersei (played by Lena Headey) died in the penultimate episode of season eight when she and her brother Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) are buried by falling rubble in King’s Landing’s Red Keep.
Previously, Arya had trained at the Faceless Men’s headquarters in Game Of Thrones. There she learned how to take on someone’s identity. So the actress’ theory wasn’t all that far-fetched.
Game of Thrones is an epic fantasy series based on George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels. It tells of the power struggle for the Iron Throne, full of intrigue, betrayal, love and war.
