Silvan Widmer has prematurely extended his contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 until the summer of 2026. This was announced by the currently injured FSV captain and the club on Friday evening shortly before the Bundesliga home game against second-bottom FC Schalke 04. The original contract expired on June 30, 2024.
Widmer came to Mainz from FC Basel in the summer of 2021. “When we brought Silvan to our side two years ago, we all hoped for exactly this development: He immediately integrated into the team, played his way into the starting eleven and quickly established himself as a leading player with his strong performances, but also with his great character “said sporting director Martin Schmidt.
