Maik de Boer finds it horrible and terrible that today, Christmas Eve, is his birthday. He feels like his birthday is being snowed under. “It’s not fun.”
You would think that Maik de Boer is overjoyed that today is December 24, because he turned 64 and he feared he would die at 63, but the bald stylist is still having a bad day. He doesn’t like having his birthday on Christmas Eve at all, because he feels a bit forgotten by people’s Christmas hustle and bustle.
Sad day
Maik makes the best of it. “I always celebrate Christmas in Barcelona. It is much nicer there, in terms of temperature. My best friend now lives there in a village further away. She has a lovely swimming pool. In any case, I will celebrate my birthday there on December 24,” he says Story.
Life is not always a party, according to the stylist. “It’s not the best day to have a birthday. I remember from the past that everyone was running to get groceries on that day, and then you were quickly congratulated in between.”
Lightly
Nowadays Maik hangs up the garlands himself. “In Barcelona I always decorate my balcony with lights. As a stylist, I have been working on Christmas trees since October, so I don’t really feel like doing them at home anymore.”
Anyway, the good news is that Maik has lived to be older than 63, because he feared he would die at the same age as his father, he said earlier. “He went into cardiac arrest in McDonald’s. The fear that the same thing will happen to me is very great. But somehow I know that nothing is wrong.”
