RRome, 23 December. (askanews) – A red parade of cyclists dressed as Santa Claus crossed the city of Rome in the name of solidarity. Hundreds took part in the annual Santa Claus Ride, organized under the patronage of Roma Capitale – Department of Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion, to support the activities of Peter Pan ODV, which has been alongside children and adolescents with cancer and their families, guaranteeing them support and hospitality.
The many cyclists of all ages dressed as Santa Claus they left Sunday morning from the Colosseum at 9.30 and cycled to Peter Pan’s Big House in Trastevere, where the organization welcomes children who travel to Rome with their families for treatment, along a journey of almost four kilometers through the center of the Eternal City. Upon arrival, a great moment of shared celebration, a symbolic embrace with the guests of the Big House and the volunteers of the association: music, sweets and the delivery of the donations that they will help Peter Pan to welcome and support the many families with children being treated in Rome.
“Organized for the thirteenth year, the Santa Claus Ride to the Peter Pan Houses is now a tradition for the city – commented Roberto Mainiero, president of Peter Pan ODV – combines fun and solidarity, continuing to warm the hearts of Romans year after year who participate in ever greater numbers and who with their generosity help us make a difference in the lives of many children and of their families. Our gratitude goes to each of them and to the organizers, who choose to celebrate Christmas with us every year.”
