Macron speaks with relatives of hostages and victims in Israel

French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Israel on Tuesday morning, reports said he on X, the former Twitter. He will speak there with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog and party leaders Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid.

“We are connected to Israel by mourning,” Macron wrote on X. There he shared that “thirty of our compatriots” were murdered on October 7 in Hamas’s attacks on Israel. “Nine others are still missing or have been held hostage.” Hamas is holding more than two hundred people hostage.

The French president arrived in Tel Aviv, where he spoke with French-Israeli relatives of the hostages and those killed. “I have the solidarity of their families [Franse] nation expressed,” said Macron.

Hamas: At least 140 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip

At least 140 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Monday night to Tuesday, according to Hamas. It reports that Ministry of Health from the Gaza Strip Tuesday morning. Hundreds of Palestinians are said to have been injured. Many of the deaths occurred in Rafah and Khan Younis, where authorities say many victims are still buried under the rubble. According to Hamas, at least 5,087 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since the war began on October 7. Israeli authorities report more than 1,400 fatalities.

Six UN refugee agency employees killed in Gaza in 24 hours

Hamas: dead and injured in Israeli attack on Gaza camp

An attack by Israel on a refugee camp in Gaza left “dozens dead or injured,” according to the Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza on Monday evening. The Israeli army confirmed the attack, saying it had hit a Hamas target in the camp. This is reported by the Reuters news agency.

In a statement on Facebook, Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said the Israeli bombardment targeted the Al-Shati camp, on the Gaza coast. He said the victims included women and children, but gave no further details.

An Israeli army spokesman said the attack targeted a location where Hamas was preparing to take action. Palestinian media reported that five people were killed in the camp. Reuters could not independently verify the reports.

Released hostages taken to hospital in Israel

The two Israeli hostages released by Hamas on Monday were handed over to the Israeli army and taken to a hospital in Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated this, reports Reuters news agency.

According to the statement, the victims are 79-year-old Nurit Cooper and 85-year-old Yocheved Lifshitz. The two women were kidnapped along with their husbands from Kibbutz Nir Oz, near the Gaza border. Their husbands are still being held by Hamas, the statement said.

The two Israeli women have been released for “urgent humanitarian reasons,” Hamas said on Monday. According to Hamas, the release follows mediation by Qatar and Egypt. The Red Cross was involved “as a neutral intermediary” in the release of the two women, the aid organization said.

On Friday, Hamas released two other hostages: an American woman and her daughter. Even then, Hamas spoke about urgent humanitarian reasons, among other things.
