According to the newspaper The Time CIM Capital, an Antwerp investment holding company, would like to take over some of the ailing restaurants. This holding previously rescued companies such as Neckermann, Veritas and event organization Zoute Grand Prix in Knokke. However, it is not yet clear which branches would make a restart.
The future therefore remains uncertain for the four West Flemish branches in Bruges, Kortrijk and Waregem. The staff and franchisees are anxiously awaiting news about a possible takeover or closure.
Lunch Garden has been a well-known name in Belgium for decades, but the recent challenges in the catering sector and the changing eating habits of consumers have hit the chain hard. For the time being, it remains unclear whether CIM Capital can work out a rescue plan that will keep some of the branches alive.
