After a foul in the Champions League
UEFA bans Bayern star longer than expected

FC Bayern had only assumed a one-game suspension for Luis Díaz. But UEFA thwarted Munich’s plans.
FC Bayern Munich will have to do without Luis Díaz in the Champions League for the time being. After his sending off in the game against Paris Saint-Germain at the beginning of November, the Colombian was banned for three matches by UEFA – longer than his club initially expected.
Coach Vincent Kompany had expected a lighter punishment on Friday morning. “My information is: a game. I would be really disappointed if my information is not correct,” said Kompany. Sports director Christoph Freund also made a similar statement: “My information is also: a game. But that is still being communicated.”
Just a little later, UEFA announced the ban for three games. The 28-year-old would therefore miss Wednesday’s game at Arsenal FC, the home games against Sporting Lisbon on December 9th and against Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21st. It is unclear whether the club will take action against the ruling.
Díaz had scored two goals for Bayern in Paris, but was then sent off with a red card after a foul on Achraf Hakimi. The German record champions ultimately won 2-1 in the French capital.
