Lucky AZ wins thanks to red card and blunder at Cambuur

Not deserved, but three points for AZ. The Alkmaarders got away very well for an hour against Cambuur Leeuwarden, but thanks to a red card and a blunder at the Frisians, AZ did win. The goal came from Jordy Clasie and came in the last official minute.

In the first half hour, the football mainly took place around the halfway line and neither team created any opportunities. That completely turned around in the last fifteen minutes of the first half. Where especially Cambuur appeared a number of times very dangerous for Hobie Verhulst’s goal. For example, the Frisian striker Roberts Uldrikis hit the post and Mees Hoedemakers was once threatening from a distance. AZ was lucky that they went to the changing rooms halfway through the game with the glasses stand.

Red card

After the break, two new faces appeared at the Alkmaarders within the lines. Mees de Wit for Milos Kerkez and Jens Odgaard for Vangelis Pavlidis. The Greek striker was slightly injured before half-time. The substitutions did not result in a better game, because again there was a great chance for Cambuur. This time Jamie Jacobs who had the ball in front of the shot, but the midfielder from Purmerend waived just before the Alkmaar goal. A minute later Jacobs was the main character again, this time he made a hard foul on Odgaard. After the intervention of the VAR, referee Dieperink Jacobs decided to give the red card.
