Russia has once again launched ballistic missiles at Kyiv. According to Mayor Klitschko, two fatalities were reported from several impacts. Moscow accuses Ukraine of killing the chief engineer of Zaporizhzhia.

The Russian military attacked Ukraine again during the night. According to Ukrainian authorities, at least two people were killed. Six others were injured, including a 16-year-old boy, as reported by Mayor Vitali Klitschko via Telegram.

The missiles struck two neighborhoods in the capital, Kyiv. Fires broke out in a warehouse in the western part of the city and in an uninhabited house in an eastern district. The Ukrainian Air Force stated that Russia fired at least eight missiles in two waves at the million-strong city and its surroundings.

Rosatom: Drone Kills Chief Engineer

Russia has accused Ukraine of killing the chief engineer of the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine during a drone strike. “A drone of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a service vehicle of the nuclear plant at the boundary between the plant’s premises and the city of Enerhodar,” stated Alexey Likhachov, head of the Russian nuclear corporation Rosatom, in a Telegram message. It was allegedly a targeted attack. The driver of the service vehicle also lost his life in the incident.

Likhachov demanded a “clear reaction” from the international nuclear oversight agency IAEA. The Russian leadership has been informed. A statement from the IAEA later followed on the social media platform X. IAEA chief Rafael Grossi condemned the incident, describing it as “unacceptable” and a threat to nuclear safety.

The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been under Russian control since its capture in March 2022. As a safety measure, all reactors have been shut down.
