The French luxury brand Louis Vuitton announces the opening of a new location in Shanghai, the retail, Le Café Louis Vuitton and an exhibition on the history of Louis Vuitton. What is special: the building has the shape of a ship and is to be understood as a contemporary homage to the origins of travel and the history of Louis Vuitton as a manufacturer of travel suitcases for transatlantic trips in the 19th century. At the same time, it also reminds of the importance of the city as a gateway to the east and important shipping and trade center in China.
“The Louis” is located in the Wujiang Road in the central business district of the city. Inside the building there are a store, an exhibition area and a café on the third floor, the culinary concept of which combines the best of East and West.
Under the title Visionary Journeys, Louis Vuitton also presents his latest exhibition in the Louis, which explores the multifaceted legacy of the house on the basis of the topics of travel, craftsmanship, fashion and innovation.

In the midst of a extensive scenographic design of Shohei Shigematsu-Mom, the experience unfolds as a journey through time and creativity, in which LV products of the past and present merge through immersive visual storytelling. The exhibition extends over two floors within the huge, ship -shaped “The Louis” and offers a sequence of thematic rooms.
