If Lothar Matthäus has his way, FC Bayern is very well positioned in the goalkeeper position. The record national player is also optimistic for the future.
FC Bayern has to cope with a heavy blow: Manuel Neuer is out until the end of this year due to a broken rib. Since the actual number two of the German record champions, Sven Ulreich, is currently not available for personal reasons, Daniel Peretz will be in goal again on Tuesday evening in the Champions League against Donetsk (from 9 p.m. in the t-online live ticker). However, Lothar Matthäus is not worried about FC Bayern’s goal in the future – on the contrary.
In his Sky column, the 63-year-old highlighted the qualities of Alexander Nübel, who is currently on loan at VfB Stuttgart. Matthäus: “Bayern are in a comfortable situation, as Nübel is already ready as a new replacement. In my opinion, they have the perfect successor.”
According to Matthäus, the pressure in Munich is higher than in Stuttgart, but he is convinced that Nübel can handle it. “He makes a good and stable impression to me in his external image,” he explained. When Nübel will return depends largely on the regular goalkeeper himself. Matthew therefore continues: “Neuer will ultimately make this decision.”
