View several houses that you may have been on your fundal list for a while. Today it is possible, because it is the open houses day. But does this still feel like a spanned housing market?

“You sometimes don’t get anything,” says Mark Kerssies of Woonaccent Makelaars Westerbork, about the number of visitors who come to an open house. “Of course you always have an idea how many people are coming, but sometimes you are really overwhelmed.”

The Open Huizen Day will be organized annually around 1 April and 1 October. However, compared to previous years, a lot fewer homes can be viewed in Drenthe compared to previous years. For example, this number was more than 600 homes ten years ago and 226 homes can be viewed this year.

In a wider housing market, the added value of an open day is larger, Wim Stuursma indicates. He is a broker in Borger and press officer of NVM Drenthe. But even now that there are fewer homes for sale, Stuursma sees that a look can be taken with many different types of homes. “We see houses that can be viewed for the first time today, but there are also houses that are on the market for longer.”

Harry Lamberink from Lamberink Makelaars & Adviseurs also sees that an open house works well. “Home seekers like to be able to view a house without an appointment.” A special day offers the possibility that you can easily make a round along different homes on a day off. “Especially useful when you are dealing with a long travel time when searching for a home.”

Despite the overstrained housing market, this day certainly still makes sense and who knows, the home seekers are in their future home today.
