The park is mainly looking for walnuts (maximum 1 year old), sweet chestnuts, Brazil nuts, cashew nuts or unshelled peanuts. “Our animals love nuts, but we are almost without them,” says De Zonnegloed. On the one hand, the nuts help to enrich the animals’ diet, but on the other hand, they also help to stimulate their natural foraging behavior. In the wild, animals spend a significant part of their day actively searching for food. By placing nuts in their enclosures, the animals maintain their natural routine.
