The fire broke out just after 2 p.m. in a shed from the pig farm. Many fire brigades including that of Ardooie, Roeselare, Lichtervelde in Izegem arrived on the spot, but could not save the shed. They were able to safeguard an adjacent shed and another building.
Mayor Kristof Pillaert says that there were no injuries in the fire. According to him, no asbestos has been released either. The pigs on the farm were also spared, although it is considered how the animals can be evacuated. The fire brigade also uses large fans to keep the smoke out of the stables.
