Longer travel time on the Antwerp ring road at the start of the new Oosterweelwerken phase | Domestic

From today, Monday March 11, night works will start to narrow the lanes on the Antwerp Ring towards the Netherlands. A maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour will apply between the Antwerp East junction and the Albert Canal.

From March 15, the right lane near the Sports Palace will be occupied for a length of one kilometer for the construction of the bypass (a temporary highway, ed.). In the direction of the Netherlands, traffic will then have three instead of four lanes.

The disappearance of the right lane is necessary to free up sufficient space for the construction of the bypass. “Taking over the fourth lane on the Ring will undoubtedly cause additional travel time,” said Lantis. “When traffic jams arise, we call on road users to form the mandatory rescue lane so that emergency services can easily pass the traffic jam.”

On the night of Tuesday 12 to Wednesday 13 March, the Deurne exit will close for traffic on the R1 for a few hours. Drivers can reach the Deurne exit from the E313.
