Long queues in Turkey in elections imamoglu as presidential candidate, massive protest holds

Hundreds of people were arrested again during protests after the arrest of Mayor Ekrem Imamgolu of Istanbul. The Turkish Ministry of the Interior reported on X that 323 people were arrested during demonstrations on Saturday evening. Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in several cities, despite demonstration prohibitions. There are currently long queues at the polling stations for the election of Imamoglu as presidential candidate of his party CHP. The election is rather symbolic, because he is the only candidate.
