Concept
The concept remains the same: breathing new life into Willem Vermandere’s songs. “We want to demonstrate that Willem’s songs are a source of inspiration for today’s artists,” says Wannes Cappelle. Each artist brings their own version of one of Vermandere’s songs, with respect for the original. For example, Frank Vander Linden sings in AN and Roos Rebergen (Roosbeef) translates a song into Dutch. Another person present is Augustijn, the son of Willem Vermandere, who has been following in his father’s footsteps for several years.
Familiar names
The poster is also packed with well-known names, including Geike Arnaert, Flip Kowlier, Klaas Delrue, Flip Kowlier, Maaike Cafmeyer, Lennert Coorevits (Compact Disc Dummies) and Michiel Libberecht (Mooneye).
These artists are accompanied by Het Zesde Metaal and by some of Willem Vermandere’s original musicians: De Trawanten with Bart Caron, Freddy Desmedt and Pol Depoorter.
