Lois Openda compares herself to Harry Kane

On the 6th matchday of the new Bundesliga season, FC Bayern travels to Leipzig for the top game. After the heavy 0-3 defeat in the Supercup, the German record champions are looking for revenge. RB, on the other hand, could overtake Munich in the table if they win.

This could work if Leipzig striker Lois Openda can continue his strong form against Bayern. The Belgian, who came to the Saxons from RC Lens for around 38.5 million euros in the summer and thus became a record transfer, has already scored three goals in his first seven games and prepared another goal.

However, the 23-year-old does not yet see himself at the level of other top strikers in the Bundesliga, such as Harry Kane. “Harry Kane is one of the best in the world. He’s better than me. But that’s exactly what drives me: I want to be on his level one day,” he told “Sport Bild”.

Ex-Leipzig coach Tedesco advised Openda to change to RB

“I can do a lot more and I work on it every day to get the most out of myself,” continued the eleven-time Belgian international. Ex-RB coach Domenico Tedesco is the coach there. Openda had exchanged ideas with the 38-year-old before his move.

“He only told me positive things: the club wants to win every game, win the cup, always be in the Champions League. And that they always have young players who they give playing time so that they can develop,” explained Openda.

Despite the strong star of the season, Openda does not see Leipzig as favorites against FC Bayern, who may have to do without central defenders Min-Jae Kim and Dayot Upamecano: “The Supercup was great. But we want to beat Bayern again in this big game and “We will do everything we can to make their trip to Leipzig as unpleasant as possible. Nobody should feel comfortable in our stadium except us.”
