The German coach looked back on Sunday’s incidents a day before the next league match against Fulham. Liverpool won the spectacular duel with Tottenham thanks to a goal from Diogo Jota in stoppage time. Klopp sprinted towards the fourth official after the winning goal, suffered a hamstring injury and shouted some words at him. After the game, he spoke out about referee Paul Tierney, whom he accused of having something against Liverpool.
“It shouldn’t have happened. It was the emotions and the anger. That is why I celebrated the goal so much,” Klopp said on Tuesday. “I tried to calm down, but I couldn’t.”
,,We spectacularly won a football game 4-3 and all the stories were about me. I really regret that, it is not necessary and it is not how it should be.”
After a mediocre season, Liverpool have climbed to fifth place in recent weeks, a place that entitles them to European football. The team is 2 points above Tottenham and has played a game less.
