Matteo Jorgenson holds up very well. The American from Movistar has half a minute ahead of four pursuers (Neilson Powless, Mathieu Burgaudeau, David de la Cruz and Matej Mohoric). The peloton continues to give ground and has a backlog of almost sixteen (!) minutes. Another ten kilometers to the foot of the final climb: Puy de Dôme (out of category, 13.3 kilometers, average 7.7 percent).
